VLAD

I saw this shawl on Ravelry and just had to CO ASAP ;-)) It looked unique and the border is so lovely :-)) I needed a black shawl for an event in the summer and now I have one :-))

Project on Ravelry
Pattern (free on Ravelry) : "Vlad" by Tammy Bailey
Yarn: 2ply Alpaca Lace by Cascade Yarns.
It took almost entire skein  (437.0 yards (399.6m)) to finish this shawl. For a moment there I was worried that I will run out of yarn on the last row :-))

ARCTIC SUN SHAWL.

"Arctic Sun" shawl is based on my pattern "Here Comes the Sun". This time I used Kauni yarn. This is my first time working with this yarn. It is rustic and not very soft, but I found it quite easy on the hands while knitting. I was hoping that after washing it will soften greatly and it did soften, but just a little. I prefer the yarn to be a little softer then Kauni when it is for something that will be on one's neck or open arms. The color changes in this yarn are amazing of course. I love the shawl, but I think I will gift it to somebody with less sensitive skin :-))

I have been knitting....a little :-)))

I had my college friend visiting for couple of weeks, so I  have been busy and knitting only a little bit.
Two projects I am working on is "Arctic Sun" shawl based on my pattern "Here Comes the Sun". This time I decided to use Kauni yarn. This is my first time working with this yarn. It is rustic and not very soft, but I found it quite easy on the hands nonetheless. The color changes are amazing and it is hard to stop knitting, since I want to see what color will unravel next.

Another project I am working on is "Purple Dandelion". It is a top from the Vogue Spring/Summer 2011 Model 29/Chevron lace Top.

Over the last few months I have received some knitting journals and have been thinking about the patterns I liked and the yarn I might use for them.

It is already quite warm in Southern California and I really want to knit with cotton :-)) Here are some models that I liked from the latest issues of Verena, Filati and Rebecca. It is more about the patterns and ideas for me, so the final project might not look exactly as in the journal. The sweater may become a cardigan for example ;-)) Of course, I will not knit everything on my wish list (I also love a lot of patterns that come out recently on Ravelry and models from the older magazines) ;-)), but it is good to have some ideas :-) I also have a new idea  for a shawl. More about it in another post :-))
